BMW & Mercedes Transmission Services

ZF & GM Transmissions, Life-time Fluid Fill?

Most of us go to the doctor on a regular basis, just to make sure everything is OK. Preventative maintenance of your body just makes sense -- would you rather make sure your vaccinations are up to date, make sure your state of health is positive, or would you rather wait until you get sick?

BMW Mercedes Automatic Transmission Service

Studies have shown that preventative health care drastically improves life expectancy and reduces sickness. Your car works exactly the same way. If you simply wait until something breaks, the expense of those repairs, more often than not, far outstrips the cost of the preventative maintenance you could have done.

Modern German transmissions are internally lubricated, much like your engine, with a synthetic oil. While modern synthetic oils do not break down as easily as non-synthetic oils, they become polluted at the same rate. Transmission hydro-mechanical design has not changed fundamentally since the invention of the automatic transmission. Only the control systems have changed significantly. Keep that in mind when you consider that Mercedes-Benz and BMW used to recommend transmission services every 30,000 miles. Now they recommend either 100,000 mile services or even no service at all. The only thing that has changed is the oil! The internals of the transmission still wear. The clutch material and the bearing material still break down and pollute the fluid. This polluted fluid coats the transmission housing, orifices, and internals. This coating promotes heat retention and reduces available lubrication. This leads to premature wear and eventual transmission failure! Simply flushing the fluid and changing the filter can remove these harmful deposit and reverse this process.

Most of our customers are not aware that a transmission replacement on their BMW or Mercedes usually ranges anywhere from $3500 to over $7000! In comparison, transmission services range from $250 - $600. The cost/benefit analysis is clear -- if you extend the life of your transmission by only 10%, you have paid for the service. If the transmission life is extended by more than 10%, you are actually saving money!

It's simple math, and the best reason to schedule an appointment with Carma today to have your transmission serviced.
